Obituary for Ashley Myles Louis Kenneth ""Ash"" Schmalz

Ashley Myles Louis Kenneth ""Ash"" Schmalz
May 7, 1982 – May 22, 2014

It is with great sadness that the family of Ashley Myles Louis Schmalz, announces his tragic passing on May 22, 2014 at the young age of 32 years. Ash was the second child and only son blessed to his parents Myles and Doreen Schmaltz (Coughlin). Ash was born in High Level, Alberta on May 7, 1982. It was in Rimbey, Alberta where he attended the majority of his schooling, growing up on an acreage west of town. He was definitely an adventurous little white haird boy, and with Ash around there was never a dull moment! At the young age of fifteen he ventured off into the world to follow in his dad's footsteps and master the ropes of the pipeline. Over the years he excelled at his profession, even recruiting several of his friends and family members, teaching them the tricks of the trade. All those years of hard work, travelling, and long hours definitely helped in shaping the fun loving, kind caring, thoughtful, ambitious man he was! Making friends every job he worked and every town he passed through. Time off from his pipeline duties, were spent by his dad's side helping on the family farm. Ash enjoyed to hunt, fish, and mostly anything that involved being outdoors. He was proud of the large loving family he came from, enjoying anytime spent creating memories pulling pranks on every and anyone he could! His fondest memories were the times he spent with his numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Ash was mostly committed to taking care of all the girls in his family. No matter what he was always there for them. With his heart of gold, and a jack of all trades, he always put others ahead of himself lending a helping hand to anyone who needed it. Ash's number one goal in life was to make others happy. Especially spoiling his nieces and nephew! Those blue eyes, beautiful smile, sense of humor and unique personality will be sadly missed by everyone he knew. Ash will be lovingly be remembered by his proud parents Myles and Doreen Schmalz, his big sister Dorianne Schmalz (Derek Cross), his little sister Darryllyne Schmalz (Kevin Hunt), and his baby sister Desirae Schmalz (Dilan Kardash). He will be cherished and forever missed by his three precious nieces: Maddy Younger, Payton Younger and Darcy Hunt Schmalz and his best little buddy, nephew Ashtin Cross. Also left to mourn are his maternal grandma Alice Coughlin and his numerous loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. Ash was predeceased by his uncle Darwin Coughlin, maternal grandpa Robert Coughlin, paternal grandparents Louis and Wanda Schmalz, his uncle Wilfred Schmalz, auntie Helen Thompson and cousin Candace Laing. Arrangements in care of Shellbrook Funeral Home. Brian and Bev Stobbs, Funeral Directors. 306.763.8488 www.MacKenzieChapel.ca
